Vearl Opel Sorenson

Vearl Opel Sorenson Passed away Sunday May 14th, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Vearl was the second of four daughters born to Floyd and Vada Dunaway on July 14, 1930. Vearl graduated from Parma High School in 1948. She met her husband, Marvin Sorenson at a dance her senior year and married him on December 12, 1948. They welcomed two sons to their family, Larry and Lynn. Marv and Vearl had a long happy marriage and were just shy of their 65th wedding anniversary when he died.
They farmed in the Ten Davis Community for many years and Vearl was a member of the Ten Davis Social Circle for 68 years. In 1960, the family moved to Basin City, Washington and farmed land from a new project. Two years later they moved back to Parma where she resided until her death.
Vearl was an active member at Kirkpatrick Memorial Church serving as both Deacon and Elder. She was also involved with a group that cooked meals for the meetings of the Lions’ Club. Vearl was a long time member of P.E.O. and enjoyed her Bridge group of many years.
Along with the special love for her granddaughters, Vearl loved to paint. She was a member of the Parma Art Guild and won several ribbons for her paintings.
Vearl was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin, and sisters Lois Richards and Sibyl Swanson. She is survived by her sons Larry (Mary Ann) Sorenson, Lynn (Judy) Sorenson; four granddaughters Monica (Pat) Ernsberger, Heidi (Doug) Johnson, Tosha Sorenson and Tiffany (Eric) Rossman; four great grandchildren; her sister Wanda Palmer; brother-in-law Sterling Swanson and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Private burial will be held at the Lower Boise Cemetery and a public celebration of Vearl’s life will be held Saturday May 20th at 11:30 a.m. at Kirkpatrick Memorial Church in Parma with a meal and social time to follow.
