Ruth Rayne was born in Danville, Illinois, in 1932, to Lawrence and Elizabeth Pickering. She lived in Illinois, Arizona, California, and Oregon, before making Middleton, Idaho her home for the past 42 years. Ruth met Bob Rayne while working at Lakeys Cafe in Caldwell. A few months later, they were married and moved to Burns, Oregon, where their only child, Roberta, was born.
Ruth mainly worked in the food service industry, starting out as a "soda jerk" in Parker Arizona, working for Simplots in Caldwell, having her own cafe in Middleton, and being the lunch lady for Middleton Elementary, where many kids knew her as "Grandma".
Ruth enjoyed swimming, crocheting, watching westerns, the occasional trip to Jackpot, and visiting with friends and family.
She is survived by her daughter Roberta Wells, her two granddaughters, Morgan and Lauren Fisher, and one great granddaughter, Lilah Martinson.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Zane, Roy, and Larry, sisters Barbara and Luana, and husband Bob. Graveside service will be Monday, March 5th at 3 PM, at Middleton Cemetery.
