Ambassador - Former Owner
James R. Dakan is a second generation owner of Dakan Funeral Chapel, being the son of T. Wilbur Dakan. Jim has been in and around the funeral business most all of his life. His earliest memories are living at the funeral chapel with his parents. Jim was raised and educated in Caldwell. After serving in the military, he graduated from San Francisco College of Mortuary Science and became licensed as a Mortician in the State of Idaho. He joined the family business and later purchased it in 1972. Jim has served our community in many ways, most notably as Mayor. He has been very active in civic clubs and fraternal organizations. He was very active in Shriner's organizations and served as Potentate for the State of Idaho, just as his father had. Jim retired from the business in 1996, but returned in 2018 and now serves as an Ambassador.
Ambassador - Receptionist
Ruth Rhoades joined Dakan Funeral Chapel in 2008 and has served as an Ambassador and Receptionist. Ruth is an active member of the Caldwell community as a member of Soroptimist. She is also very active and involved in rodeo in Caldwell and surrounding communities. Ruth attends Canyon Hill Church of the Nazarene.

Archie graduated from Caldwell High School. He married the former Virginia Hall of Caldwell and has two sons, Nick and Craig. He also has five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Archie served his country for two years in the United States Army. He worked for Summers Office Supply in Caldwell for 44 years. After his retirement he joined Dakan Funeral Chapel as an Ambassador to the community. Archie is an active member and treasurer of the Caldwell Lodge No. 1448 B.P.O.E. and the Kiwanis Club of Caldwell. Archie has been recognized many times and in many ways for his volunteerism and community service. Archie is someone you would also recognize as Santa Claus, which illustrates one of the ways he has touched every member of every age group of this community.
Sadly, Archie passed away Sunday, September 2, 2018, just days after celebrating his 90th birthday.

Mortician Resident Trainee /Funeral Assistant
Titus joined Dakan Funeral Chapel in 2011. Titus assists with funeral services and is a valued employee who is on call to assist families when a death occurs. He is responsible for bringing loved ones into our care at the time and place of their passing. He enjoys riding his motorcycle, and time spent with family. Most recently
Titus has decided to pursue a career in funeral service. He is currently serving Dakan Funeral Chapel as a Mortician Resident Trainee.
Vernen D. Vollmer was born and raised in Idaho.
He graduated from Idaho Falls High School, attended Ricks College
and graduated from Boise State College.
He married the former Elaine Christensen of Caldwell and settled in the Caldwell/Middleton
area. They have six children, forty
grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
As a young man, he served as a missionary in France,
and then upon retiring, he and Elaine served missions in Philadelphia,
San Bernardino, and at the Family History
Library in Salt Lake City. He is an Eagle Scout, and has worked with
the Boy Scouts in various offices through the years and is currently a Den
Leader. He is a member of the Church of
Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and attends church in the Middleton 1st Ward. In addition to assisting with funeral services, he is also responsible for bringing loved ones into our care at the time and place of their passing.
