Zola Jensen Dixon

March 24, 1927

Tribute

Zola Jensen Dixon was born March 24, 1927 in Heyburn Idaho to Lorenzo Jensen and Minnie Hymas Jensen, the youngest of seven children. She grew up on her parent’s farm south of Rupert. At age 13 she met Keith Dixon. They dated through High School until he joined the army to help in WWII. She supported him through the war until he came home, and they married in the Salt Lake City Temple February 28, 1946.

They went into farming and had 2 boys. Jobs changed and soon there was a girl and through the years a total of 7 children. She was a homemaker among many other talents - art, music, hard work. Over the years they built 2 houses with their own hands, remodeled many and turned an old school house into Keiola Kastle – Caldwell.

The grandkids tell it best “She was a feisty, spunky, eccentric lady who loved all things colorful and crazy. She loved anything dragons, knights or royalty”. She liked to try anything she could get her hands on such as stained glass, clay work, drawing, painting, quilting, acting, and building. “She was a mover and a doer up to the end.”

With teenagers at home, she attended Idaho State University, driving to Pocatello every day from Heyburn, and earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education - with honors - in three years. She taught school in Paul, Idaho for 3 years, and Nampa Idaho for 18 years, and retired in 1989.

She was active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in many callings - Sunday School, Primary, Relief Society, and Young Women’s. She was very involved in anything with music, dance, and drama.

She is the last of her generation preceded in death by all her siblings. She is survived by her 7 children - Donald Dixon of Homedale, Randy (Louise) Dixon of Shelley, EvaLyn (Tom) Nichols of Nampa, Jerry Dixon of Middleton, Leslie (Valerie) Dixon of Cusick WA, Shela (Kim) Merrill of Layton UT and Kim (Suzanne) Dixon of Caldwell, 33 Grandchildren, 80 Great Grandchildren, and 11 Great Great Grandcildren.

“She will be missed here, but welcomed most especially by her Savior, and Keith, and her pets who have gone before.”
