Tribute

William Clyde Settle, 69, died November, 11 2020 with his family by his side in Caldwell, Idaho.

Bill was born October 29, 1951 in Boulder City, Nevada to Glen William Settle and Geraldine Engle Settle. An avid athlete, he grew up loving the game of baseball. Bill excelled at the sport while attending Clarkston High School in Clarkston, Washington before his graduation in 1970. Later he developed his skills as a catcher for Lewis-Clark State College, where he still holds the record for most stolen bases in a collegiate career. After college he traveled north to compete in the semi-pro league in Saskatchewan Canada for two years and was drafted by the Houston Astros for 1 year. His love of sports continued throughout his life, passing that passion onto his children and grandchildren.

Bill worked at Clearwater Paper Mill (known as Potlatch) while attending nursing school in Lewiston, Idaho. Soon after, he began his career in nursing in Parker, Arizona. There, he worked in the surgical department for 13 years before moving to Caldwell, Idaho to perform his duties as the surgical services coordinator at West Valley Medical Center. He retired in 2016 after 28 years in health care, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and dedication in nursing.

Bill is survived by his wife of 48 years, Patty; his children Grant Settle, Geoff Settle and Emily McCune, along with 14 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son Glenn Settle.
