Wilbur Leland Bowers

Wilbur Leland 'Buddy' Bowers was born July 22, 1938 in Homedale, Idaho, to Sam and Maude Bowers. He was the ninth of ten children. When he was six years old the family moved to their property on Riverside Rd. in Caldwell, where they lived in the barn while the house was being built. As a, he and his family worked in the onion fields to earn moneyfor school clothes. At sixteen, he left school and went to workthe sheep camps. When he was twenty, he and his youngerBobby volunteered for the 1960 draft in order to stay together. They served two years at Fort Sam Houston, in Texas, as noncombatants.
Upon returning, he was baptized into the Followers of Christ Church, where he remained faithful until the end.
Buddy met and then married Ilene Eells on April 23, 1965. They made their home on the family's property in Caldwell.
He retired July 16, 2008 after working thirty-seven years for the Boise Project Board of Control.
He is preceded in death by his wife Ilene; parents; three brothers; four sisters; and two daughters. He is survived by two brothers; Harold and Roland Bowers, and his daughters: Colette Bowers, Lynette and Toby Young, Vanitta and Adam, LeAnn Bowers, Rebekah and Greg Milburn, Rachel Bowers, a son Reuben and Amy Bowers and nine grandchildren.
