Violet Elaine Cate

Violet Elaine Cate, [93], of [Middleton], passed away on July 28,2017] in Caldwell.
Funeral service will be held at Dakan Funeral Chapel on August, 3 at 10:30 Burial will follow at Middleton Cemetery.
Violet was born in Bayard Neb. to Edward and Emma(Ricks) Speer on June 30 1924. Her Mother passed away when Violet was young and the family moved to Middleton Idaho. She graduated from Middleton High in 1942 She married Thomas W. McGinness in 1944 and they had two daughters, Judy and Cathy. She had several jobs outside the home over the years, the most recent of which was as a bookkeeper for Sears in Caldwell, but her main focus and joy was always her home and family. She loved baking, sewing, books, gardening and became an accomplished painter. She was a member of Purple Sage Creative Arts and her paintings were displayed in various location in Middleton and Caldwell. In 1982 she remarried to Richard Cate and retired from Sears. Her home was always the gathering place for all the holidays and even after a brief visit to her house you were sent home with home baked bread, rolls or cookies. She extended her love and affection to all of her family’s friends and many of them just called her “Gramma”
Violet is preceded in death by her Mother, Emma Speer (Ricks), Father Edward Speer, 3 sisters, Marie Tussing, Catherine Evans and Rose Lindauer, Husband, Tom McGinness, Husband Richard Cate, Her Dear Friend Cecil Reed and Great Grandson Michael Allen
Violet  is survived by her Daughters Judy (James) Simpson and Cathy (Andy) Liscinski,
Grand Children, Angela (Greg) Allen, Pamela (Robert) Jewsbury, James( Gerilyn) Simpson, and Jaymi Heaven
Great grandchildren Rebecca ( Jordan) McMannis. Katherine, Elizabeth and William Allen, Christopher, Bryan and Scott Jewsbury, Perry, Serenity and Andrew Simpson and Jordan (Elizabeth) Thomas.
And two great-great granddaughters Charlotte Rose McMannis and her namesake Violet Olivia Thomas.
