Verner Ralph Altig, 83, of Caldwell, Idaho, passed away on July 19, 2022, at the Veterans Hospital in Boise, surrounded by his family.
Verner was born August 20, 1938 in Caldwell, Idaho, to William and LaVone Altig. Verner was the oldest of nine siblings. Verner joined the Navy in 1962 and was honorably discharged in 1965. Verner worked at his Uncle Loris Navis' business Martin Wholesale in Caldwell, Idaho for many years. His career in the wholesale industry lasted many decades, until he finally started to “slow down” by working “part-time” as a courtesy car driver for Lyle Pearson, all the while in his “spare time” keeping up with his side gig of mowing more than 150 yards a week, mostly for the community of Silver Crest Estates in Nampa, Idaho.
Survivors include his wife Edna (Eagans) Altig; his children: Kim Street; David (BettyAnn) Street; Patti (Michael) Donovan; Valerie Altig; and Jason Altig; his daughter-in-law Tuesday Altig; his grandchildren: Ariah Street; Connor Street (Shabrea); Austin Altig; Tommy Donovan; Patrick Donovan; Michael Donovan; Sean Donovan; Joe Altig, Jr. (Kelli); Kevin Altig; Tim Altig; his great grandchildren: JaeLynn, Ashelynn, Zayla, Savayah, Oliver, Bryce, and Peyton: his sisters Sharon McNatt, Cheryl (David) Herbenson, Carol (Bob) Miles; Kathy (Jon) Pedersen; Kim Horton; Sue (George) Bruno: brothers Richard Altig; Derry Altig; many cousins, nieces, and nephews; and his Church Family at West Valley Baptist Church in Nampa, Idaho.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Joseph Altig, and his grandsons Joshua Bleau Wood and Zachariah David Street.
Funeral services will be held on August 4, 2022. A viewing will be held at 10:00 a.m. followed by funeral services at 10:30 a.m. at Dakan Funeral Chapel, 504 S. Kimball Ave., Caldwell, ID. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery, 10100 N Horseshoe Bend Rd, Boise, ID. A reception at West Valley Baptist Church, 2513 Sundance Rd, Nampa, ID at 4:30 p.m.
