Shirley J Horrace

Shirley Jean Horrace, 88, went to be with the Lord on April 5th, 2018. She was born to Raymond and Ruth Ford in Caldwell, Idaho, on March 2, 1930. After graduating from Caldwell High School, Shirley married her high school sweetheart, Alvin Horrace, on May 27, 1948. They began their family on Sunny Slope where Ray and Beverly were born and then moved to Parma where Diana and Kathy were born. They then lived in the Ten Davis Community for over 50 years where she helped her husband farm, milk dairy cows, and raise their children.
Shirley began her working career at JR Simplot when she had graduated and worked there until she began her family. After her family had been raised, she returned to JR Simplot where she worked until she retired. Shirley enjoyed sewing, cooking, raising flowers, fishing and camping on the family lot in Cascade, Idaho, and having a dog. She was active in 4-H, TOPS, the Parma Senior Citizen Center and church. The last few years of her life, she lived at Kindred Care in Caldwell. Her favorite past-time there was playing Bingo and doing crafts.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin; two daughters, Beverly Hibberd and Kathy Thomas; great-grandson, Caston Sitts; her mother and father, Raymond and Ruth Ford; and her stepfather, Lester Lingel.
She is survived by her son, Ray Horrace of Fruitland and fiancée, Vicky Crank, and daughter, Diana Sitts of Parma and husband, Larry. She also leaves behind 11 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 14th, at 11:00 a.m. at Kirkpatrick Presbyterian Church, Bates and 3rd St, Parma, under the direction of Dakan Funeral Chapel, Caldwell. A family graveside will be held prior to services at 10:00 a.m. at Lower Boise Cemetery, Parma. Condolences may be shared at www.dakanfuneralchapel.com
