Samantha Ray Simonis Hickey, 45, passed away Monday, July 13, 2020, at St. Luke’s Meridian hospital in Meridian, Idaho, from complications of COVID-19. She was born October 5, 1974 in La Grande, Oregon to Linda Huddleston and Ray Simonis.

Samantha resided in Caldwell, Idaho with her husband, Robb Hickey, and their children. As a lifelong learner with a passion for science and people, Samantha earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Oregon Health and Science University and a Master of Science in Nursing, Nurse Practitioner degree from Graceland University. Nothing brought more joy to Sam than her children and spending time with them and her extended family. She was Devan and Jackson’s biggest sports fan, never missing an event. Sam spent years dancing, which she loved, and years as an aerobics instructor. Most recently, Sam enjoyed spending time refinishing and repurposing antique furniture and various DIY projects. Her most recent project with Robb and the kids, was a small camp trailer which she was very excited about renovating. It is nearly complete.

Samantha is survived by her husband, Robb; her children: Devan Berg, Jackson Berg, daughter-in-law, Sydnee, Reed and Blakelee; step-daughter and husband, Katie and Justin (MacRae); step daughter and husband, Karly and Cody (Parry), step daughter, Kelsey; her mother and husband, Linda and Darrell (Linklater), her father and wife, Ray and Teri (Simonis); her paternal grandparents, Wayne and Ernestine (Simonis); her sister and husband, Jamie and Jeff (Lester); her sister and husband, Rachel and Scott (Seaman); nieces and nephews: Elyza, Dallen, Hallie, Ella, Collin and Corrynn; four step grandchildren: Jameson, Rowan, Austin and Emersyn; several aunts and uncles and many loving cousins. Samantha was married to Dusty Berg of Nampa, Idaho, from 1994 –2009.

A memorial service will be held Monday, July 20, 2020 at 2:00pm MST in Caldwell, Idaho. The service will be held in person for immediate family only, however, will be streamed live at: https://centennialbaptistministries.org/ click on the online church tab to view service. In lieu of gifts and flowers, the family is requesting charitable donations be made to the St. Luke’s Health Foundation in Samantha Hickey’s honor where the contributions will go to support nursing education.
