Tribute

Sally Marie Ragains Christensen stepped from this world into Heaven on Saturday, November 14th, 2020 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.
Sally was born in Nampa Idaho on May 16th, 1960 to Barbara and Larry Ragains of Parma. She was welcomed by older sister Susan and a large extended family. In 1965 the family moved to Hoonah Alaska to pastor a home mission’s church for a brief time, returning to Idaho the next year. Sally graduated from Parma High School in 1978.
Sally seemed to float through life, always smiling and like her Daddy, never met a stranger. Her outgoing, happy spirit touched lives wherever she went. She spent many happy hours playing with Sister Susan and Cousins Joy, Kristi and Barbi at Grandma and Grandad Fretwell’s house in Parma.
Sally married the love of her life, Don Christensen on September 5th, 1980. The couple lived their entire married life in Caldwell. Sally and Don served as music ministers for Valley Church from the early 80’s until Don’s death in 2007. The couple, along with Renae Rutzen Hardy sang professionally for a number of years. Sally and Don traveled extensively before their children were born, singing and ministering to churches in Europe and Asia. Along with business partner Betty Adams, Sally and Don opened American Music in Caldwell in 1982. Sally managed the office until she retired due to Early Onset Alzheimer’s in 2015.
Sally’s greatest joy came from her children, Alexander and Mili. Together they had many adventures and lots of laughter. Even at the end of her life when she had trouble communicating, she could say their names.
Sally is preceded in death by her husband Don Christensen, Parents Barbara and Larry Ragains and many more special family members. She leaves behind her children, Alexander and Mili Christensen, sister Susan (Gene) Ness, Uncle Roger (Sarah) Fretwell and Aunt Ramona Ragains Huffman (Phil) along with many special cousins and a large extended family.
Sally always had a smile and an encouraging word for all she met. She was quick to offer help and spent hours organizing church functions, caring for friends in need and most of all, loving on family. She will be missed beyond measure.
A special thanks goes to Wendi and her team at Paramount Parks Assisted Living for opening their doors and their hearts to Sally and her family this week as she traveled her journey home; to Alli, Jeannette and the team at Signature Hospice; to Mary Roehling, NP for all the extra hours she spent caring for Sally; and to all the wonderful friends and family who made Sally’s last week special. There are truly no words to properly thank Kristi Christensen (and her family) for the care she gave, the time she spent and the sacrifices she made in caring for Sally over the past years, you are truly an angel!
