Roy William Taylor was born July 3rd, 1945 just South of Homedale to Gladys May Churchill & Robert William Taylor. He joined an older sister Rose Mary and was followed by two younger brothers Norman and Glen (Shorty). He helped on the farm learning to do work at an early age, milking cows and helping to tend the large garden his parents grew. He attended Homedale Schools but did not graduate as his dad was very sick and he needed to work to help the family. He started working at the JR Simplot Company in 1963. There he met the love of his life and future wife Carol Heaps. They were married March 27th, 1964 in Nampa, Idaho. In March 2022 they celebrated 58 years together. Roy was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, He and Carol were sealed in the Temple for all Eternity on May 11th 1979. They had three children Russel William, Michael Alan, and Shauna Lynn. Roy & Carol lived a few years in Nampa until Roy convinced Carol that Homedale should be their hometown. Roy and Carol enjoyed traveling, spending time with loved ones especially the grandkids. They also enjoyed camping and spending time at the Shepp Ranch on the Salmon River. Roy enjoyed hunting and fishing with his brother, children, and grandchildren. He enjoyed golf but his greatest passion was bowling. He was a member of several leagues, enjoying the comradery of his fellow bowlers. He and Rusty traveled to several state and national tournaments from Canada to Tennessee. He loved attending his kids and grandchildren’s events, always supporting them and cheering them on in the events and sports they loved to do.

Roy is survived by his wife Carol, his brother and sister-in-law Glen & Marta Taylor, son Rusty, daughter and son-in-law Shauna & Darrin Osborn, grandchildren Andrea & Brian Kim, Cortney Dayton, Shad & Jordyn Dayton, Jeremiah & Katie Osborn, Bryce & Seth Maxwell, Jakobee Osborn, Korbin Osborn, great grandchildren Hayden, Thea, Ainsley, Cooper, Michael, Espyn, Westin, Walker, and two more on the way, along with many cousins, nieces, and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, son Michael, sister Rose Mary Martinez, and brother Norman Taylor.


Roy William Taylor, 77, Homedale, died Friday, September 9, 2022. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 8, 2022 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Homedale.
