Richard C. "Dick" Brock

Richard C. 'Dick' Brock, 88 of Caldwell, passed away on Friday, November 23, 2018. Dick was born on April 30, 1930 to Ollie Cort and Hattie Pearl Shepard-Brock in Giltner, Nebraska, where he joined his two sisters, Arlene Jewel and Shirley Mae. When Dick was four years old, his family moved to the Caldwell area where the family farmed. Dick attended some small rural schools such as Marble Front, Homedale, and Central Cove before the family moved to Notus where he graduated from Gem State Academy. Dick farmed until he joined the US Air Force where he was stationed in Valdosta, Georgia and Victorville, California.

Dick married Thelma Marshall in 1950. They had 3 sons Alan, Bill, and Dale (AKA Pete). Dick and Thelma later divorced. Dick and his sons enjoyed farming together in the Notus area until 1998.

Dick married Judi Bruveleit on February 14, 1972 where he gained a beautiful daughter, Becky Jo Bruveleit. Dick and Judi enjoyed several adventures traveling, golfing, camping and playing cards with family and friends. Dick loved going to the coffee shop early in the morning and playing cribbage at the Caldwell Elks Lodge with his buddies. He rarely missed going to his grandkids sporting events and concerts. Dick’s family will miss his wonderful sense of humor and being a good sport when the granddaughters used him as a ‘living doll’ and put bows on his bald head.

Dick is survived by his wife of 46 years, Judi; 2 sons, Bill (Vickie), Pete (Esta), and daughter-in-law Debbie; his sister Shirley Olsen; 14 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and 4 great great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Alan; stepdaughter, Becky; sister, Arlene; brothers-in-law, Pete Ulrich, Everett Witt, and Jim Olsen; and 1 great-granddaughter, Lexi DeWitt.

The family would like to thank all of the caregivers who gave Dick such wonderful care in his last years.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 27th, 2019 at Oregon Trail Church of God, 23057 Old Hwy 30, Caldwell. Condolences may be shared at www.dakanfuneralchapel.com
