Quentin Ross Markwell, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, & great-great grandfather, passed away October 30 at the age of 83. Quentin was born May 18, 1935 in Mesita Colorado, son of Brooks Markwell & Eunice (Ross) Markwell. At an early age the family moved to Idaho living in Caldwell, then moving to Notus. Quentin graduated for Notus High School in 1954. He attended the University of Idaho graduating in 1958. On September 10, 1956 he married his high school sweet heart Donna Beck, together they raised their six children. Quentin taught vocational agriculture at Murtaugh, ld, & Wilder, ld. After summer school studies at the U of I he was a high school principal at Bruneau, ld & Kamiah, ld. In 1965 Quentin, Donna & their family moved back to Caldwell to begin farming with his parents. In 1984 due to a crop destroying hail storm he soon learned the screen printing business this he did until retiring in 2004.
Quentin loved visiting & playing cards with Notus classmates & numerous other friends. He enjoyed following his children in all of their school activities. He was instrumental along with other parents in reviving the Middleton Booster Club doing numerous fund raisers to help support the school athletic programs. He loved all sports that his family participated in so far as to park the beet harvesting machinery & attending (in work clothes) an afternoon football game.
Quentin was very privileged to meet Don Doramus who became the brother he never had & was called "Uncle Donald" by the Markwell family. After Quentin & Donna moved to their home in Nampa the two men engineered the addition of a wonderful family room to their home. The two men worked tirelessly for weeks beginning in the late fall of 2005. With the help of others along the way the large room with wonderful fire place & attached deck was finished. Many wonderful Thanksgiving dinners followed for twelve years with all family members gathering supplying everyone's favorite dishes. Quentin's greatest joy was to have family come for holidays, sports watching and of course eats along with lots of visiting.
He enjoyed the deck in summer for coffee & giving his dog Penny her morning snacks.
The family wishes the thank all the dedicated Drs., nurses, care givers, and family members who gave unending care to Quentin over the past months, your love, & concern will never be forgotten.
