Phyllis June Barnes passed away on April 20, 2022 in Shelby, Montana. She was born June 22, 1927 in Grimes Township, Iowa to George and Augusta Groen The family later moved to Caldwell, Idaho, then to California and back to Parma, Idaho. Finally settling in Caldwell, Idaho. She graduated from Caldwell High School.
Phyllis married Herold Frank Barnes the love of her life for 50+ years. To that reunion they adopted two children, Rex Eugene and Judy Marie.
Phyllis worked many places in her life but she worked for Caxton Printers and was there for 35+ years until her retirement. Phyllis was involved in bowling and bowled at Talbot Lanes and Caldwell Bowl for many years. She met many good friends over the years of bowling.
Phyllis and Herold played in a country western band with Al Malsom and Floyd Ames. Phyllis was the singer in the band and they played at Black Cat Club in Meridian and Tango Club in Homedale on Saturday nights for many years. They were known to play many Polkas for the Basque community in Homedale.
Phyllis is survived by her daughter Judy Van Devanter (Mark) and great granddaughter Nykee. Her grandchildren, Jennifer Burchard, Justin Buchard, and Heather (Patton) Buell. Her great grandchildren, Skylyar Burchard, Kizer Burchard, Zac Nelson and Sebastyn Baell.
She was proceeded in death the love of her life Herold Barnes, son Rex Eugene, brothers Kenneth, LaVern, Wayne Groen. Her mother and father, nieces and nephews, her sisters Lois Sequine, Erma Brunmeier.
Memorial services will be held 11:30 a.m., June 22, 2023 at Canyon Hill Cemetery (far end).
