Tribute

Paul Owen Kester passed away on Thursday June 9th, 2022, in Meridian Idaho at the age of 77, following a courageous and hard-fought battle with Parkinson’s disease. Paul was born to Catherine and Lloyd Kester in Boise, Idaho and eventually had a stepfather (Bob) who he admired dearly. Paul split his adulthood between the northern California area and southwestern Idaho (Caldwell). He served in the army national guard and while serving landed a job at WESCO Carburetors in San Jose, CA (1964) where his exceptional artistic ability lead him towards draft work. Paul was so skilled artistically his career was also his hobby, and upon moving to Caldwell, Idaho he began side work for etchings and his work on gun cabinets and other subjects was adored by Ducks Unlimited and used in fundraisers. Paul would later take his exceptional talent in draft work to Canyon County Courthouse, where he worked (retired) for 23 years. Paul was also a published author and wrote many short stories and poems for family members and friends to enjoy. He was also working on writing a novel in hopes of having it published before he passed away. Paul’s artistic work is cherished dearly by his friends and family. His unique sense of humor, love for movies, “gadgets”, snake river fishing trips and his many cats over the years that brought him so much joy are just a few examples of memories his family and friends have to share and recall.

Paul was preceded in death by his father Lloyd Kester, mother Catherine, stepfather Bob Craig, brother Jerry Kester, brother Wayne Kester and sister Margaret Thrall.

He is survived by his former wife June Vaughn of Caldwell, Idaho , daughters Amber Hammond of Caldwell, Idaho and Marilyn Piccola of Meridian, Idaho as well as six grandchildren- Jerry, Raelene, Brayden, Katelin, Nathaniel and Rebecca.

Arrangements made at Dakan Funeral Chapel (Caldwell, Idaho).
