Patricia Browen Krier

December 14, 1936 ~ March 29, 2020 (age 83) 83 Years Old

Tribute

On March 29, 2020 Patty accepted the hand of the Lord, dropped her earthly burden and followed Him. She is now basking in the glories of her long-awaited home and is whole again. We who are left behind celebrate her life on earth.
Patricia Ann Lassegard was born in Mitchell, SD on December 14, 1937 to Samuel and Charlotte (Grosz) Lassegard of Alexandria. She was the youngest of 8 children and attended school in Alexandria. Pat loved her growing up years in a small town and was active in band, cheerleading, student council, library and other student activities. She received her RN from St Joseph Hospital in Mitchell in 1958 where she practiced nursing for 5 years.
In 1958 Pat was united in marriage to LuVerne Browen in Alexandria. Their first 3 children were born in South Dakota: Beth Renee, Bert Douglas and Barbara Jean. In 1963 they moved to Albion, NE, where they managed a Good Samaritan Assisted Living facility. Then in 1964 LuVerne accepted the role of Administrator for what is now Samaritan Village in Boise and they moved the family to Idaho. Pat became a stay at home mom and 3 more children were added to the family: Scott Samuel, Anthony Harold and Robert Patrick.
In 1969 Pat and LuVerne moved to Eagle ID to a house on 30 acres. A few years later, they remodeled and enlarged the home using plans that Pat developed. In 1976, she returned to work part-time at the nursing home running payroll and accounts payable in the office. In 1978, they built a home (designed by Pat) on 50 acres in Star, ID.
Pat was a wonderful wife, mother and homemaker. She developed a keen ability to raise her family and acquired skills in cooking, sewing, gardening, baking, canning, etc. She always made birthdays and holidays special for her family and enjoyed a busy social life. She also loved camping and the annual trip “home” to South Dakota each summer for 3 weeks. She looked forward to seeing friends and a large extended family including her parents, her and LuVerne’s many brothers and sisters, in-laws, and nieces & nephews.
In 1981 LuVerne passed away suddenly and Pat became the head of the family with the 3 younger boys still at home. This was a very difficult time which she handled with grace and determination relying on her strong faith. Through it all, Pat continued to bring joy to everything she did. She left the nursing home a few years later and then went to work for the Idaho Dept of Transportation. In 1985 she was blessed with her first grandchild which started a new wonderful phase in her life — being a grandmother.
In 1990 she married Richard Krier in Tonka Bay, MN. After his retirement in 1991 they moved to Idaho and converted a bus which was their home for 10 years. They toured 48 states, five Canadian Provinces, Thailand and China and drove some half million miles. Patty loved to travel in order to broaden her scope on life. She was an aficionado of both modern and western music and developed a vocabulary which was second to none. It was often said that if Patty couldn't do it, it couldn't be done. Everyone she met was her friend and everyone she met loved her.
In 2000 Patty was diagnosed with Alzheimer's and in 2013 she moved into assisted living and remained until her death. Even as Patty’s illness progressed, you could still see her loveliness, joy and humor.
Patty was preceded in death by her husband LuVerne, mother Lottie, father Sam, sisters Geraldine and Marilyn, and brothers LeRoy and James. She is survived by her husband Dick Krier, brother Bill Lassegard, sister Dorothy Kuhl, brother Dan (Julie) Lassegard, and her six children: Beth Browen, Bert (Shellie) Browen, Barb (Marc) Gunning, Scott (Drenda) Browen, Tony (Renee) Browen, and Bob (Jessica) Browen. She also has three stepchildren: Mark (Carolyn) Krier, Shelley (Tim) Stewart and John Krier. She has 11 grandchildren, five step grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
