Norma Lee Rohm

October 21, 1931 ~ May 18, 2017 (age 85) 85 Years Old

Norma Lee Rohm passed peacefully with her beloved family by her side May 18, 2017.
Norma Lee Bungum was born October 21, 1931 in Wessington, South Dakota to Samuel K. and Blanche B. Bungum. She moved with her family to Wendel, Idaho in 1937. Norma met and married the love of her life Whitey Rohm, and they moved to McCall the next day. The family lived there for three years and made many life-long friends. In 1960 Norma and Whitey moved to Caldwell, Idaho and added two more children. The active family of 9 lived in the Caldwell community with the help and encouragement of the Caldwell school system, community, and the Boone Memorial Presbyterian Church. Norma was active during her life in Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts, Eastern Star, and Lady Elks but especially with the Boone Memorial Church family. Some of her favorite activities included bowling, golfing, bridge clubs, and camping with family and friends.
Norma spent 15 years working for J. R. Simplot in Caldwell. She supervised the making of some of our favorite foods from the famous potatoes of Idaho.
Norma and Whitey were Arizona snow birds for 20 years. They traveled the world on cruises. They drove to Alaska and across the US from New York to Florida to Arizona. In 2012 they moved from their Caldwell home of 52 years to Hillcrest Assisted Living in Boise. After 57 years of marriage Whitey passed away on January 26, 2015.
In January of 2017 Norma fulfilled her bucket list by traveling around the Caribbean on a Country Family Reunion cruise. 85 years young, she joined her two daughters, Janet and Laura, by swimming with the dolphins at Costa Maya. The entire crowd cheered when she caught hold and rode those dolphins- saying what an inspiration and a great example- truly!
Her greatest joy was cheering on her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren at any event. Norma is survived by her children, Rod and Darla Rohm, Janet Howard, Mike Rohm, Laura Coe, and Sam Rohm; her two sisters, Lois Bungum and Sharon Shupe; along with 19 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson.
Norma is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Whitey; her sons, David Robinson, Bill Rohm, and Rich Rohm; her grandchildren, Kelly Rohm and Carl Coe; her sister and brother-in-law, Doris and Gale Dalby; her brother-in-law, Stan Shupe; and her son-in-law, Cliff Coe.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday May 24 at 1:30pm at the Caldwell Presbyterian Church 603 Everett St. Caldwell, Idaho.
The church will hold a reception after the service. All are invited and welcome to attend. Condolences may be shared with the family at www.dakanfuneralchapel.com.
