Nolan Reed Taggart

Nolan Reed Taggart of Wilder, Idaho was born April 9, 1940 in Lewiston, Utah and passed away unexpectedly at home on July 1, 2022 while working in his beautiful yard alongside his brother, Lynn. A viewing will be held at Homedale High School from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday, July 8, 2022. The funeral service will be held at the LDS church in Homedale, Idaho at 10:30am on Saturday, July 9th.
Nolan was the youngest of seven children born to Walter and Vella Taggart. At the age of 10, his family moved from Utah to Homedale, Idaho where they operated a family farm. At age 14, he met the love of his life, Sharon Hinton, whom he married on November 25, 1961. Nolan was well known for his larger-than-life personality, quirky sense of humor, and infectious energy that inspired others and left them feeling better. He was a lifelong Trojan, first as a student, and later as an educator, coach, and administrator. After 33 years, he retired from the Homedale Public School system.  Throughout his life, he held many positions both professionally and within the LDS church, which he attended faithfully throughout his life. He received numerous awards and accolades for his teaching, leadership, scouting, and coaching efforts. Nolan actively enjoyed and continued attending Homedale sporting events. He will be remembered for being a well-respected and loved colleague, community member, church patron, and friend. Nolan loved his church and family and prioritized both of these things as the center of his life. Nolan will be deeply missed by his wife, Sharon, and their children Shauna (Wayne), Denise (Daryl), Scott (Paulette), and Tami. He is also survived by his 16 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren. He will also be missed and thought of fondly by his many relatives, colleagues, and beloved friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial scholarship funds may be given to Homedale High School.
