TO MY BROTHER

I never thought I would be writing this message so soon. It seems like just a couple years ago you were riding your bike with your pet raccoon sitting on your shoulder. And no, I did not leave the cage door open!

One other thing I remember quite vividly, you locking me in the trunk of your car to see if there was any light coming through. I believe it was just coincidental that I had claustrophobia.

We have enjoyed many, many conversations about our days back in Ivanhoe. How you knew and loved to talk of those times. You were my personal historian. I think you knew so much family history from all the time you spent with Dad sitting in the barn. You knew and remembered everything!

All in all, we did have fun growing up. Our family life was a good life. We had a dad and mom that loved us and took care of us. Hearing Dad snore at night I always knew we were all safe.

And, as I say good bye for now, I will miss everything about you. You were a good son, a good brother, a loyal friend, a hard worker and, most of all, a good person. You took care of your family and in their own words, you were a “Great Man.” I will always love you. God speed.
