The Lord called Martha Lois Oliver, 91 years of age, to her heavenly home on November 18, 2020. Martha was the firstborn daughter to Letha and Alex Reizenstein, with seven sisters and two brothers following. Martha maintained her relationships with her siblings all the days of her life.
The Reizensteins were a farming family and worked in the Canyon County area. When working in the fields one day, Martha met her future husband, Dean Oliver. They wed on Feb 3, 1950. In their 70 years of marriage, Dean and Martha reared five daughters. There was one daughter lost in childbirth.
The family eventually settled on a 75-acre ranch where they raised cattle and horses. Martha worked the ranch while Dean pursued his rodeo career. Martha worked the land and with the animals. She was also active in her daughters’ activities. For example, Martha was a girl scout leader, school carnival cook (making chili and cakes yearly), and attended sports activities and PTA meetings.
Martha had multiple hobbies, including crocheting, ceramics, cooking, sewing, painting, as well as others. Martha taught her daughters to cook, crochet, and sew. She let her kids be kids and mended many knee and elbow owies along the way.
In her very social life, Martha never met anyone that did not like her. Martha regularly participated in camping adventures with her siblings, their families, and all the children.
In her later years, Martha drove school bus and took great joy in driving the young students. Martha would dress up for holidays and the school bus kids loved it all. Martha’s sense of humor found many ways to express itself. This was passed on to her daughters in glorious ways.
As time passed, Martha became the grandmother of ten, as well as numbers of great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Martha was amazing and would help anyone, anytime. She is going to be sorely missed, leaving big shoes to fill. In Martha’s final years, and to her very last moment, she was surrounded by her children.
