Maleeka Yancey

November 9, 1999 ~ March 29, 2019 (age 19) 19 Years Old

Tribute

On Friday March 29, 2019 our world was shattered, hearts broken and our lives forever changed due to a tragic car accident. Maleeka Alazae Yancey born November 9, 1999 in Nampa, Idaho to Alison Yancey and Margarito Scales was taken from us way too soon.
Only 19 years of age, "Leeky" had a zest for life and lived it her own way. She loved deeply, could make you smile in your darkest moments and was always there for you...anytime...anywhere.
Leeky tackled challenges with great determination and conquered them one at a time. She was so proud when she graduated from the Idaho Youth Challenge Academy, earned her High School Equivalency and her Welding Certificate...so were we.
Leeky loved time spent with her "sissy's", Gabby and Izzy doing makeup, watching movies or making silly videos of themselves...and of course antagonizing one another..endlessly.
"My beautiful sister Leek, Whichever Angel is doing your make-up, be sure she is doing it right until we are together again. I Love You...Izzy"
"Leek, God had greater plans for you in heaven I guess and needed you there more than we do here. Thank you for sharing the last 16 years with me. I Love You...Gabby"
"Maleeka has been my heart and soul since the day I first laid eyes on her, I remember the first time she kicked, I never felt true love until I saw my heart go walking around outside my chest and I fell in love with her more every day. Over the years we grew closer, without a doubt she became my best friend. She still calls me Mommy, she is my nerd who loves anime, chewbacca, the Bee Gees, bonfires, pick up trucks, her boyfriend David and eating candy with Smurf, her dad, while they watched cartoons. She acted a lot like him but she was a mini me. She walked, talked, stood, and moved just like me. She was a mama's girl to the core. She told me once, " I'm here for a good time but not a long time and if I die today I will die happy because I've had a pretty awesome life." Maleeka- my pride and joy, my very best friend. I gave life to you but in the end you saved mine. You are my sunshine and I will still sing it to you every night. Rest in paradise, my heart and soul... Love Mommy.
Maleeka was excited for the return of her fiancee David. They were planning on getting their own place and saving up to move to Hawaii. She loves him endlessly.
"Maleeka was my everything. The love of my life, my soulmate, and my best friend. She was the strongest person I've ever seen even at the worst times. I will love her until the day I stop breathing, and I know she loves me too. She will always be in my heart..." (David)
Maleeka and her Grandpa Rick had a very special relationship. He was one of her favorite people and they were a mirror image when it comes to their dry wit and sense of humor. Grandpa Rick and Grandma Cheryl had a part in shaping the young woman she was becoming. They were an important part of her life from the moment she was born until today.
Maleeka spent most of her time with Grandma Shirley and Grandpa Jeff. They helped guide her and lay a foundation for being a responsible young adult. She would fight this fiercely at times because she wanted to live in the moment. They call this adolescence... Maleeka was protective of her Grandma and loved her unconditionally. Despite any conflict or disagreements, Maleeka knows her Grandma and Grandpa love her... it's been evident in every action over the years.
Maleeka leaves behind so many who love her. Her mother Ali Yancey, Father Margarito Scales, sisters Gabby and Izzy. Her fiancee David Ernestberg.
Grandparents: Jeff and Shirley Hagen, Rick and Cheryl Yancey and Esther Scales.
Aunt Tammy Tawney (Paul Johnson), Aunt Shannon Weston (Pete Weston) and Uncle Ron Laswell.
Many special cousins and an endless list of friends including Jonathan whom she truely adored.
"Nothing can dim your light which shines within me"...Daddy David.

There will be a viewing Thursday April 4th from 6-8 pm. Services Saturday April 6th at 1:30pm with a gathering afterwards. Details to be announced.

Maleeka was such a huge force and a wonderful presence that she leaves a huge devastation in her absence. Baby girl, until we are all together again, you will be forever in our hearts...
                     We love you endlessly.
