I just saw the passing of both Lynn and Barbara..condolenses to family friends and colleagues. I worked with Barbara at the old Lakewood General in ER. Lynn would often come in to help out at the end of our shift. Both were wonderful people and so much in love. They will be greatly missed. May they rest in peace. C Slopak

I will not be able to make the funeral. I saw Lynn frequently while I was growing up in Tacoma and my brother Dave worked at Lynn's station. Lynn served as a roll model for Dave and kept him out of trouble. Lynn was probably the most selfless and honorable man I have ever met. When he lived at University Place, squirrels would nest in his attic and fall down between the wall and the drywall.. He was so soft-hearted he would carefully cut out a section of drywall to free them and never complained about the damage. He went deer hunting several times with my father and myself, but never got a deer. I think he just enjoyed to experience of being in the deep cathedral of the forest with others who appreciated the experience. I find it difficult to envision him actually hurting a deer. John Donne wrote:
No man is an island,
Entire of itself,
Every man is a piece of the continent,
A part of the main.
If a clod be washed away by the sea,
Europe is the less.
As well as if a promontory were.
As well as if a manor of thy friend's
Or of thine own were:
Any man's death diminishes me,
Because I am involved in mankind,
And therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls;
It tolls for thee.
Our continent has been greatly lessened by his passing. His presence enhanced the lives of many and he is truly missed.

Where in the world does one begin recalling the memories of such a nice soft spoken man ?In the early seventies when Lynn was hired at the U.P. Fire Dept. he brought with him his want of community service with him, and created ESAR, an explorer scout group dedicated to finding lost soles in our vast forest's, I was one, now at the age of 61, my reflections are of those who were with me of such a good man who devoted a lot of his time to us and the county and state he served. The time and energy of him can never be calculated in terms .I for one owe him a great deal of gratitude and a special memory in my heart for him. Although the years have slipped by, my memory of him and the goodness of his heart have never fallterd. God Bless you Lynn and thanks.

I am sorry to hear of Lynn's passing. We used to do garage sales together, and My husband Grant served in the fire department with him. He was a wonderful husband to his ailing wife Barbara, which I always admired. May he rest in peace and once again enjoy the company of Barbara and Grant as their spirits are reunited.

Deepest condolence to the family and friends during the most challenging time. There are no words that can ease the pain of losing some so beloved. May you find peace and comfort in know that your loved one is in God's memory. (Job 14:14, 15)

Lynn was a member of ESAR when he lived in University Place. The group is part of BSA in Pierce County. The unit in Pierce Co. has been going for the last 53 years. The boys and now girls are taught to search for lost people in the wilderness and also, do evidence searches for the Sheriff, cities, other agencies. We have searches in many other counties in the state. Lynn was one the great guys!
