Leon Dale Maxwell

Leon Dale Maxwell, 73, of Boise, passed away on February 13, 2018 after a long battle of congestive heart failure. He passed away peacefully at home with his family at his side.
The family would like to thank all of the staff at St. Alphonsus’ CICU and ICU during Leon’s stay through his struggle; as well as, Encompass Hospice for their compassionate care while Leon was at home during his final days.
Leon was born in Caldwell, Idaho on June 26, 1944. He lived in different areas at a young age with his mother, and then in 1952 moved to Wilder to live with his father. He went to Wilder Elementary and on to Wilder High School where he graduated in 1953. While still in school, he met and dated Rita Simpson where they became high school sweethearts, and then married in 1963.
He worked for Morfitt Stores in Wilder as a grocer and in 1971, Leon and Rita moved to Boise where Leon became employed with Albertson’s Grocery, and later moved to the warehouse where he retired after 32 years. In 1972 they were blessed with their daughter Kristina.
Leon loved to go hunting, ice fishing, ATV riding, camping and driving his Nissan Titan pick up. Leon was proud of being a father, husband, grandfather, brother and friend.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Rita Simpson-Maxwell, daughter Kristina Michelle White, son-in-law Todd White, and granddaughters Shayna Kristine Vogelpohl, and Taeler Marie Vogelpohl. He is also survived by his brother Ron Maxwell and sister-in-law Barbara Benham Maxwell, sister-in-law Betty Newell, his Aunt Larea Lefler, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father Chet Maxwell, mother Laura Rowland, brother-in-law Ron Newell, as well as aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandparents.
Service will be held Monday, February 19th at 2:00pm at Dakan Funeral Chapel. 504 S. Kimball Ave., Caldwell, Idaho.
Private burial with family will be after the service at the Wilder Cemetery.
