Tribute

Laurel (Laurie) Ann Bingham passed away July 28th after a battle with cancer. She was born January 15, 1955 in Caldwell, Idaho to Phyllis and Harvey Saxton. The second of seven daughters, she grew up on the Saxton fruit farm overlooking Lake Lowell.

Laurie started dating the love of her life, Harold, during her junior year of high school. She graduated from Vallivue high school in 1973 and went to California to train to become a travel agent. Laurie and Harold married April 26,1975, and moved to Provo, Utah where she worked for Murdock Travel, and helped put Harold through college to become an accountant.

Shortly after Harold graduated in 1976 they started their family, moving to Boise, then Meridian, and finally Homedale where they built a home in 1985 with a scenic view of the Snake River and Owyhee Mountains. They welcomed a total of five children (four boys and one girl) into their life. Laurie dedicated most of her adult life to raising her children full-time.

She loved working in her yard, which was beautifully landscaped, and hosted many gatherings and wedding receptions. Later, they bought a cabin outside Baker City, Oregon where they spent many days working and enjoying the outdoors. Laurie liked road trips, camping, and traveling throughout the country and beyond. She went on fishing trips to Alaska, and sun bathed on the beaches of Cancun, the Caribbean, and Hawaii.

In recent years, Laurie’s greatest joy in life was her 17 grandchildren. She supported them in all their hobbies and endeavors - from sports to musical performances to academic events - and was happy to witness their milestones through the years.

Laurie was preceded in death by her father and mother Harvey and Phyllis Saxton; father and mother-in-law Cal and Betty Bingham; and brother David. She is survived by her husband, Harold; six sisters - Patricia Banther, Jenny Barrus (Bill), Norma Standerford (Tim), Heather Dunham (Mark), Nancy McHugh (Mike), and Emmy Rogers (Scott); five children - Jacob (Clarisa), Keith (Katrina), Ann Jensen (Dallas), Quinn (Angela), and Andrew (Mackenzie); 17 grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and two beloved exchange students - Patce and Alex.
