LaNeva Sorrell, 71 of Wilder, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, April 15, 2018. She was born March 12, 1947 in Gainsville, Missouri to Elmer and Ruby Driskell. In 1950 they moved to Wilder, Idaho where she attended Holmes Elementary School and graduated from Wilder High School in 1965.
LaNeva married Dennis Sorrell on January 21, 1966 and they made their home in the Wilder area. She was a wonderful mother to their four children, a homemaker, and also helped Dennis on the farm. They lived in the Wilder area until LaNeva and Dennis built their dream home in Arena Valley overlooking the Snake River. When asked why they didn’t move closer to their farm, she would tell you she wouldn’t give up her view.
She and Dennis were like 2 peas in a pod, where there was one, there was the other. LaNeva loved spending time with their family and traveling all around the country. She also spent many happy hours watching the deer and wild turkeys in their yard with her dog, Missy.
LaNeva is survived by her husband of 52 years, Dennis Sorrell; daughters, Sheri (John) Gillette and Teresa (Roy) Gonzalez; sons, Daryl Sorrell and David Sorrell; 7 grandchildren, Krystal Sorrell, Ashley Sorrell, Haley Gonzalez, Roy Gonzalez, Jr., Gavin Sorrell, Derek Sorrell, and Morgan Sorrell; 2 great-granddaughters, Lilah Steinmetz and Aurora Fisbeck; her aunt, LaNora Driskell; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
LaNeva’s family will receive friends Thursday evening, April 19th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Dakan Funeral Chapel, Caldwell. Graveside services will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 20th at Wilder Cemetery, Wilder. A reception will follow at David Sorrell’s home, 31545 Marker Rd, Parma, ID 83660.
