On November 11th, 2019, Joyce Leslie, loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away at the age of 78.
Joyce was born in 1941 in Caldwell, ID to Wilbert Dewey and Goldie Allen. She graduated from Caldwell High School in 1959 and enjoyed a variety of careers in both Caldwell and Boise. Her most important job was as a wife and mother. On May 15th 1959, she married the love of her life, Nelson Leslie. Together they had two daughters, Carrie and Tiffani.
Joyce greatly enjoyed cooking and showing off her immaculate home. Guests were always welcome and she definitely had the gift to gab. She loved to travel and spent many years going on trips with her friends to places like Hawaii and Canada. While visiting relatives in California, Joyce and Nelson discovered a magical little place called Disneyland, where they would continue to travel every year. When Boise Towne Square opened in Boise in 1988, Joyce saw one of her wildest dreams come true when she got a job at Lane Bryant. Her passion for fashion helped her become an exemplary employee and she worked there until she retired. She spent the remainder of her life living with her daughter, Carrie, and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She continued to direct those around her on how to make one of her many famous recipes and telling stories of her adventures with her friends and family.
Joyce was preceded in death by her father, Wilbert Dewey, her mother, Goldie, her sisters Betty and Shirley, her brother, Leonard, and her husband, Nelson. She is survived by her daughters Carrie and Tiffani, her grandchildren, Brittany and Zack, and her great-grandchildren, Baylee, Xander, and Hope.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, November 25th, 2019 at Canyon Hill Cemetery on Illinois Ave at 11 o’clock a.m. Condolences may be sent to 6495 W Grandview Dr. Boise, ID 83709.
