John George Bullis, 90, of Caldwell, Idaho passed away on January 15, 2023 of a brief illness.
John was born August 6, 1932 to George and Hazel Bullis in Beatrice, Nebraska. George and Hazel also welcomed a daughter, Anna May Bullis.
In 1947 John married Wilma Huls. Together they welcomed four children, Linda, Susan, Larry and John Michael. They later divorced
John traveled around the country to find work and ended up in Winnemucca Nevada in 1954. He started off as a bartender and moved up to be a card dealer. While working in Winnemucca he met Deloris Hayes and their daughter Vickie Kay was born.
John then met and married Marilyn King on August 27, 1957. Together they welcomed John George. They later divorced.
John then married Jennifer Hobson Smith in 1972. Jennifer brought two daughters to the marriage, Angela and Melissa.
John worked many years as a roofer owning roofing businesses, United Roofing in the early 1970’s, and then owning and operating with Jennifer JB’s Roofing. The company was later sold to Ron and Melissa Clapp. John and Jennifer also owned and operated many small businesses in the Caldwell/Nampa area.
John was always so proud of his family. John enjoyed a good football game. He also loved to play cards with his friends at JB’s Card Room in Caldwell.
Some little known facts about John, he loved to go grocery shopping especially when he found a great deal. John strongly disliked chicken. John tolerated most dogs except for his beloved Vera.
John is survived by his children Linda Murdock, Susan Mitchell, Larry Bullis, John George Scott (Valene Scott) and Vickie Kay Helfrich, as well as his step children, Angela Owen (Darrell Owen) and Melissa Clapp (Ron Clapp), many grandchildren, great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. John was preceded in death by his wife Jennifer, January 31, 2022 and his son John Michael Bullis February 18, 2018.
There will be a celebration of life at 1PM on February 18, 2023 at C.V. Peckman Community Center adjacent to Dakan Funeral Chapel.
