John Ray Bennett, 71 of Caldwell, passed away on March 13, 2020 of natural causes at a Boise hospital. A Celebration of John's Life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 23rd at Canyon Hill Cemetery, Caldwell, with a light luncheon following at CV Peckham Community Center adjacent to Dakan Funeral Chapel, Caldwell.
John was born April 29, 1948, in Julesburg, Colorado, and moved to Idaho as a toddler. He graduated from Vallivue High School in 1966. John proudly served in the US Army from April 1968 through November 1969, receiving an Honorable Discharge. Serving in Vietnam, he earned many medals including the Purple Heart.
Returning to Idaho he worked in farming, land leveling, construction and later became an owner/operator in the trucking industry.
John is survived by his wife, Patty of Caldwell; mother, Gloria Bennett of Middleton; brother, Lynn (Diane) Bennett of Middleton; sons, Tad Bennett of WY, and Charles (Jessica) Bennett of McCall; daughters, Brianne Patterson of Caldwell, and Brandee (Aaron) Stone of Nampa; stepson, Shawn McCall of Caldwell; one grandson and six granddaughters; and numerous cousins and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father William Henry Bennett, sister Barbara Watts, daughter Brittany Nalley, and stepson Scott McCall.
