James (Jimmy) Irvine Sawyer left this world at 7:08 p.m. on December 19, 2018, passing peacefully of natural causes at the age of 90 in Caldwell, Idaho.
He was born March 2, 1928 to Glen Willis Sawyer and Barbara Imel Portlock in Emmett, Idaho and grew up and graduated high school in Cascade, Idaho.
He married June Patricks of Roseberry, Idaho in 1950 and had four children Raymond of Walton, KS; Alfred, whereabouts unknown; Marvin of Caldwell, ID; and Victoria Kennemer of San Francisco, CA. In 1965, he married Ann E. Kingston Darden and had one daughter with her, Georgia Irene of Garibaldi, MI. Jimmy also helped raise step-children Jeanne Darden, Jim Darden and Rose Darden.
Most of his adult life he was employed in the logging industry in multiple positions; his last place of employment before retirement was with J.I. Morgan Company in New Meadows, ID.
During WWII he served in the Army in the Philippines.
He lived most of his life in Idaho: Cascade, New Meadows, Haden, and Caldwell.
He is survived by his second wife, Anne E. Kingston Darden, Coeur d’Alene, ID; his sons Raymond Glen and his wife Deborah L. Alfred Francis; Marvin James and his wife Sandra; his daughters Victoria Dee and Georgia Irene; Step-children Jeanne Darden and Jim Darden; 9 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his first wife June, who passed away on October 2010; 8 brothers; 2 sisters and step-daughter Rose Darden.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 2, 2019 between 6 and 8 p.m. at Dakan Funeral Chapel, 504 S. Kimball Avenue in Caldwell, ID 83605 (208) 459-3629. Funeral service will take place Thursday, January 3, 2019 at 2 p.m. also at Dakan Funeral Chapel. Reception will follow the service at the Best Western Hotel, 908 Specht Avenue in Caldwell at Franklin Rd., exit 29 off of interstate 84.
