Tribute

Jimmie Martin Norris passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on September 19, 2021, at 94 years old. Jimmie was born on February 6th, 1927, to his proud parents Wilbur and Elizabeth Norris and siblings Mary Alice Norris (True) and Wilbur Clinton Norris. He grew up in the Knowlton Heights area of Marsing, Idaho. He attended the Knowlton Heights School and graduated from Marsing High School in 1945. World War II was ongoing so after graduation he was drafted into the United States Army on May 30, 1945, at Fort Douglas, Utah, serving 2 years. With an honorary discharge from the military, he returned to farming with his father and brother on the Norris family farm until he retired. While farming in the Huston area he met Sally Tveidt who he married on February 9th, 1962. Married for 59 years they raised 7 children; Lynn Carl Tveidt, Sherri Evonne Norris, Jimmy Joe Norris, Douglas Clinton Norris, Janice Libby Norris, Elizabeth Ann Norris and Christina Lurleen Norris. Jimmie loved farming and continued to work up into his 70’s. Then turning over the reins to his son Douglas, he still helped with whatever he could.
He always put family first and loved spending time with them. In his off time, he enjoyed skiing at Bogus Basin, attending races at Meridian Speedway, going on winter road trips with the family, camping, and swimming at Givens Hot Sprints. Later in life he found a new hobby he enjoyed, 4 wheeling with family and spending time in the Owyhee’s, Silver City, and Idaho City. Jimmie also found great joy in going to the Oregon Coast and riding the river with Jerry’s Rogue River Jet Boat Rides. He was able to enjoy one last ride 2 weeks before going home to be with Jesus. Jimmie and Sally were very proud of their numerous children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. They were always ready to show their support and attended every school and sporting event they could.
We will always cherish the memories of our amazing father. He was a man of great morals, hard work, loving, kind and generous. He worked to instill all these qualities in his children and to know and love God. Dad will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He was the best husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather any family could ask for.
Jimmie was preceded in death by his parents Wilbur and Elizabeth Norris, his sister Mary Norris-True, his brother Clinton Norris, his son Lynn Tveidt, his grandson-in-law Jeff Smith and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Jimmie is survived by his wife Sally Norris, his children Sherri Norris-Martin, Jimmy Norris, Douglas Norris (Gina), Janice Norris-Jacobs (Jeff), Elizabeth Norris-Cummings (Tim), Christina Norris-Williams, Nephew Bruce True (Christine), niece Helen True-Noe (Duane) and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
