INA LEE (CHRISTENSEN) RICE
Born April 9, 1933 in Burns Oregon to Ralph and Elizabeth (Betty) Christensen, she passed away on March 27, 2021in Caldwell Idaho at the age of 87.
Our mother was living at Canyon West of Cascadia nursing home. We wish to thank the staff at Canyon West for their care of our mother.
Ina was born and raised in Burns Oregon, graduated from Burns Union High School and then graduated from Kinman Business School in Spokane Washington. She married Lyle Simpson in August 1953 and they raised four children. After divorcing, Ina married Claude Rice of Caldwell ID in 1973. Ina and Claude were married 42 years, until Claude passed away in December 2015.
Ina’s four children will miss her dearly: Teresa Simpson Reynolds (John) of Post Falls ID, Steven Simpson of Caldwell ID, Kathy Simpson Hues (Patrick) of Seattle WA, and Diane Simpson Rambow of Meridian ID. Ina also has four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She has a surviving sister in Hines Oregon, Mrs. Nadine Barnes, and eight nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband Claude, her parents Ralph Christensen Sr and Elizabeth Christensen preceded her in death, as well as her brother Ralph Christensen Jr.
Ina was a cherished mother, wife, sister, aunt, and grandmother. During her life, she lived in Oregon, Washington, Idaho and New York state. She loved to travel and visited Hawaii, London and Paris with her husband Claude in the 1990’s. She was proud to receive her CNA certification and provided nursing care for the elderly before she retired. Ina also loved sewing, gardening and farm life. She will be remembered as a loving Christian who cared about her family above all else.
