Tribute

On March 25, 2023, surrounded by family, Houston Garman passed away at West Valley Medical Center in Caldwell. He was 97 years old and will be greatly missed.

Houston was born on September 17, 1925, and raised on Garman Hill in Wilder. He graduated from Wilder High School where he met and later married the ‘love of his life’ Nadine Stockton.

Houston was a proud World War II Veteran, where he served in the Navy as a Radioman aboard the USS Garrard in the South Pacific. Houston and Nadine were married on April 21, 1946. After a brief stint playing professional baseball, Houston worked for Crookham Seed Company for nearly 40 years.

Houston is survived by his wife Nadine, children Steve (Barbara) and their son Matt (Angie), Mike (Linda) and their sons Greg (Kristina) and Sean (Jean), and JoAnn Maupin (Sam) and children Brad and Melynda Port (Jake). He also leaves behind eleven great-grandchildren and two sisters, Helen Karn and Hester Tuttle (Gail) as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank West Valley Medical Center Hospice for their care and compassion. Graveside services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Wilder Public Library or a favorite charity.
