May 3, 1936 ~ November 20, 2019 (age 83) 83 Years Old

Tribute

Hester Margaret Allison was born to Lloyd and Golda Allison on May 3, 1936. Hester was number 10 of 11 children. The Allison clan lived in Caldwell, ID just before Hester started 2nd grade when the moved to a farm her father bought in the Center Point south of Notus. Life was simple on the farm with chores, school and family times. She had many stories but always spoke of milking cows with her sisters Shirley and Loree’ and riding the family horse, Becky.
Hester was active in school, playing in the band and sports. Hester graduated from Notus High School in 1954. At this time while attending youth group at Sterry Memorial Church she met Donald Wamstad. They were married on January 3, 1956.
Don and Hester were blessed with two children, Ken Wamstad and Barb (Wamstad) Skogsberg. Life was an adventure for the Wamstad clan living in Idaho, Maryland, Washington and finally back to Idaho. Sadly, Don passed away in October of 1990. Don was the love of her life and Hester always missed his companionship.
Hester held many jobs over the years. She worked in the medical field as a nurse assistant, receptionist, transcriber, and office manager. The years before Hester retired were spent as an aide in the computer lab for Middleton Heights Elementary School.
Hester’s love for family was very apparent. She was a proud Mom, Grammie, and most recently Grammie-great. Hester attended every sporting event, fair, and concert she could of her children and grandchildren. As an aunt, Hester kept close relationships with many of her nieces and nephews.
Most memories of Hester involve music of some kind. She was a gifted musician, singing and playing the piano with her family at many different functions while growing up. She also played piano and organ for many of her nephews’ and nieces’ weddings. One of her greatest joys was accompanying her sister, Shirley, when she sang.
Hester served God with her musical talents. As important as singing in choirs, ensembles, directing choirs and playing piano for Sunday Worship, her greatest joy was in knowing she was praising her God. Hester was always looking for musical talent within the church. If you sang or played and instrument and Hester found out, she saw to it that you were singing in the choir, doing special music or playing with the worship team.
Her last years were challenging being home bound and no longer able to play her beloved piano or work in her yard and flower gardens. But Hester kept her love for life and sense of humor until the end. She is now free to play the piano, sing and direct on of God’s heavenly choirs.
She is survived by her children, Ken (Carrie) Wamstad, Barb (Mike) Skogsberg; grandchildren Jason Skogsberg, Allison (Kenton) Doty, Clayton (Holly) Wamstad, Mica Wamstad, Jaden Ernst, Susannah Wamstad, Jesse Wamstad, and William Roy Wamstad; three sisters, Ruth Robertson, Barbara Hume and Loree’ Swartz; brother-in-law Dale Everson. Numerous nephews and nieces.
