Hazel L. Overlin

September 7, 1937 ~ November 21, 2018 (age 81)
Hazel Lucile Overlin died Wednesday, November 21, 2018 in Caldwell, Idaho. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 30, 2018 at Canyon Hill Cemetery, Caldwell under the direction of Dakan Funeral Chapel, Caldwell. Condolences may be shared with her family at www.dakanfuneralchapel.com.
Hazel was born September 7, 1937 to Effie Hazel and Charlie Calvin Griffith. She grew up and lived in Ola, Idaho, until she met the love of her life, Frank Rich Overlin. They married in Winnemucca, Nevada, on October 27, 1958. They had 3 children together, Robbin, Fred, and Marty.
Hazel was a woman who cherished her family and loved her boys with a fierce devotion. Her boys loved camping so almost every weekend Hazel would have the camper ready when her husband Frank got home from work and off they would go. On one of those trips Hazel wrecked her motorcycle but kept going despite having a boot filled with blood, so she wouldn’t miss a moment with them. Once Hazel took the blame when her son Fred wrecked the car, so that he wouldn’t get into trouble. Her youngest son, Marty used to enjoy racing police officers in his Mach 1 Mustang and when the police came to the door and asked if she’d seen a black Trans-Am she politely told the officer that neither of her boys owned the vehicle in question. In fashion of keeping up with her boys Hazel had a 1997 Dodge Avenger that she loved to race through town. She looked forward to every Mother’s Day when she rode shotgun in her son’s Corvette. She loved going to Roe Anne’s in Emmett for a chocolate milk shake with her son.
Hazel was baptized at The Oregon Trail Church of God by Pastor Don in 2015 and became an active member of the church. She was also an active member of the Rebecca Lodge for many years.
Hazel leaves behind her oldest son Fred Overlin, 4 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren. She will be welcomed home by her husband Rich, daughter Robbin, and son Marty Overlin.
