H. Kingsley Andrae
June 18, 1947 – April 10, 2020
H. Kingsley Andrae "King" was born June 18th, 1947 in Nampa Idaho, to Harry Conrad Andrae and Betty Jane Underkofler Andrae. Kingsley passed away on April 10, 2020 in his home, surrounded by his loved ones, after a lengthy battle with Squamous Cell Carcinoma.
He loved camping, fishing, driving the boat "Sparky" on any body of water. His favorite though, was Warm Lake, since the late 70's. Many memories have been made there that will be cherished for years to come. In grade school, Kingsley developed his musical skills, playing the clarinet. He grew very fond of this hobby and performed for the Shriners Band, then onto the Caldwell Centennial Band. He remained active with the Caldwell Centennial Band up until December 2019, due to the treatments for his diagnosed carcinoma, which prevented him from playing his favorite instrument. During his school years he also enjoyed the hobby of raising and showing pigeons. Before giving up on this hobby for his college experiences, Kingsley won several blue ribbons at the Canyon County Fair. Any other extra time he had for his hobbies included time spent with his family, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints where he was ordained a High Priest, and Masonic Lodge with the honor of being the Grand Master twice.
When he was not out enjoying these hobbies, he was working as an Orderly at Caldwell Memorial Hospital. Fresh out of high school, King traveled to Pocatello to attend ISU. He remained there for a few credits and returned home to enter Pre-Med at a school in Illinois. In or around 1964, he left Caldwell Memorial Hospital and went to work as an Orderly at Mercy Hospital in Nampa. During his employment he met the love of his life, Vicki Erickson, who was a sixteen-year-old nurse's aide working the same unit. They began dating in June of 1972, and after one and a half years they married on July 13, 1974 and January 1978 in the Salt Lake Temple for time and all eternity. After they were married, they both began taking correspondence courses for their RN license, through the University of New York in Albany. Kingsley continued his career at West Valley Medical Center in the ICU/ER and retired after over forty-two years of service, but his passion was too great and started volunteering to help as many people as he could before getting too sick.
In 1975 they were blessed with their beautiful and amazing daughter, Shuree Michelle Andrae. Then in 1977, blessed with a fabulously talented son, Brandon DeWitt Andrae. Finally, in 1978, our sweet and cuddly but challenging son Sean Kingsley Conrad Andrae. Both Kingsley and Vicki worked full time and focused on caring for their family throughout their forty-seven years together.
King was proceeded in death by his grandparents Olive and DeWitt Underkofler, his parents Betty J. and Harry C. Andrae, and in October 2018 their youngest son Sean Kingsley Conrad Andrae.
He is survived by his only brother Brent G. Andrae, wife Vicki Erickson Andrae, daughter Shuree M. Andrae (Johnny Gonzalez), son Brandon D. Andrae (Christina), daughter Cindy Quinton (James), niece Brenda and nephew Bart Andrae (Lisa), granddaughters Siarra S. Andrae Main (Bradyn), Sydnie S. Andrae-Hernandez, Saedee L. Andrae, Aleah E., Madison Jo, Chloe C. Andrae and Skyla Matousek, grandsons Kenyon Miller and Tristin K. Andrae, and great-grandchildren Maliya S. Carmona, Brysen T. Main. As well as numerous brother and sister in law's, various aunts, uncles and cousins back east, and multiple nieces and nephews.
We are publishing this narrative on the one-year anniversary of Kingsley's passing, being denied a proper service due to the COVID monster. This year has emphasized the value and importance of family, friends, faith, and determination to maintain and share our blessings.
