Gynith Ann DeLong

Gynith A. DeLong was born in Mutual, OK June 10, 1941. She passed away on September 10, 2018 of congestive heart failure. She was the oldest of four daughters born to Everett and Helen (Craighead) Harrison. Gynith was united in marriage on February 10, 1963 at The First Christian Church in Seiling, OK. To this union were born two sons Rob and Larry DeLong. Gynith and Don bowled together for a number of years. They enjoyed traveling. She and Don went to Hawaii this year to celebrate their 55th wedding anniversary. Bus trips with the Caldwell Rec Center were another of her favorite pass times. She was on such a trip when she passed from her earthly home to a better place. Gynith was a member of The First Assembly of God Church (The Domes) for over 35 years. She served in positions of leadership with The Women’s Ministry Program. She also served with her granddaughter Susan in supporting Sunday school classes. In recent years, poor health prevented her from attending on a regular basis. She was well known for her great potato salad. Another hobby was fishing with her husband for trout at Horsethief Lake. Family was very important to Gynith, she enjoyed having all the family over for Christmas, holidays, and having family over for card and board games. A great moment of joy for Gynith was this past month when she got to hold her new great grandson Gabriel. Gynith was preceded in death by her parents and her great granddaughter Jasmine. She is survived in death by her husband Don of Caldwell, ID, three sisters Gail (Gerald) Crownover of Caldwell, ID, Tana(Terry) Cafferty, and Pam(Leroy) Woodland of Moses Lake, WA, sons, Rob (Pam) of Middleton, ID, and Larry (Trina) of Caldwell, ID, grandchildren Susan and Christopher of Middleton, ID, Rebecca(Greg) Cotner of Meridian, ID, Camee (Thunder)Dixon of Caldwell, ID, and recently arrived great grandson Gabriel Dixon. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

A viewing will be held between 6:00 and 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at Dakan Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, September 20, 2018 at The First Assembly Of God “The Domes’ Church in Caldwell with burial at The Idaho State Veterans Cemetery.
