Gregory Eugene Liles

April 27, 1954 ~ June 26, 2017 (age 63) 63 Years Old
Gregory Eugene Liles passed away of cancer at the age of 63 on Monday, June 26, at home surrounded by family. Greg was born on June 26, 2017 in Boise, Idaho to Gene and Anita (Chambers) Liles. He grew up in Boise and was proud to graduate from Boise High School.

One of the most defining moments of Greg’s life was his enlistment in the United States Marine Corps in 1974. In the Marine’s, Greg honed the traits of hard work, dedication, integrity, courage, and patriotism that were his hallmarks as a human being. Greg ultimately worked as a weather forecaster and achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant before a shoulder injury forced him to return to civilian life in 1987. In his heart, Greg remained a Marine the rest of his life.

Greg spent the rest of his career at the United States Postal Service. He started in Boise as a Casual, a temporary employee, sorting mail, but soon became a Postal Carrier at the Main Office. Greg worked his way to becoming a supervisor, serving in Boise, Nampa, and Caldwell. Ultimately, Greg spent nearly a decade and a half as the Postmaster of Horseshoe Bend, where he loved and enjoyed the community, especially his work family.

While Greg was dedicated to his work, he was even more devoted to his family. Greg knew he was lucky enough to be married to his soulmate, Shanna. Not only was she the love of his life, she was his best friend, and they delighted in going to their cabin in Cascade and playing in the outdoors, four-wheeling, snowmobiling, and jet skiing. Greg was also lucky to have in his mother such a great friend, and he loved spending every Sunday morning with her. Greg was very proud of all his children and his grandson.

Greg is survived by his wife, Shanna; his children Eric (Jenn) Liles, Steven Liles, Andrea Ascuena, and Marcela Ascuena; his grandson, Connor Liles; his mother, Anita (Earl) Lumadue; his sister Debbie (Rick) Hamrick; and many dear aunts, uncles, cousins, and in-laws.
