Tribute

Gordon Leroy Seward passed peacefully at his home in Parma, Idaho on January 15, 2022 surrounded by his family. Gordon was born on December 12, 1940 in Nampa, Idaho and grew up on the family farm in Parma. Gordon honorably served his country in the United States Army including a 2 year tour in Vietnam. He owned and operated a very successful irrigation company (Intermountain Irrigation) for many years in Rupert, Idaho, and served as the president of the Idaho Irrigation Association in 1982. In 1986 Gordon and family returned to Parma where he resumed farming with his brother Donnie. He was a successful farmer for many years raising onions, beans, hay, alfalfa seed and sugar beets. He loved coffee with friends and could be found most mornings at the café talking about current events and how to solve the world's problems! Gordon enjoyed weekends and vacations at their mountain cabin which he built himself in 1986, and many good times at the family fishing cabin in Chinook Washington. And the cruises…. Gordon enjoyed many cruises with his family members (Johansons, Hedges, Roberts and Johnsons) traveling to locations like Alaska, Caribbean, Hawaii, Panama Canal and others.

He  loved everything outdoors, especially hunting, fishing and golf. Gordon was an accomplished outdoorsman, hunting birds and big game with many pictures and mounts. He had a passion for fishing, spending many hours crappie fishing at the Owyhee, Paddock, Brownlee and CJ Strike reservoirs. He went on multiple long range Tuna fishing trips out of San Diego chasing Wahoo and Yellow fin Tuna.  Also, you could find him every year at the Washington coast cabin during the fall salmon run in August chasing big Chinook salmon and in recent years he also had fun clam digging with his family in the spring on the Washington coast. He also loved his time on the river in Riggins and Orofino steelhead fishing the Salmon and Clearwater rivers. Gordon enjoyed wildlife, going for many drives in his pickup or on the 4 wheeler with his dogs looking for game in the Council mountains. He was an animal lover and took his dogs with him everywhere he went.

Gordon belonged to the Elks while in Rupert and spent many weekends golfing with friends and family. In retirement, Gordon enjoyed helping his friend Frank Shirts with his sheep. And spent many hours watching the farming activity in the area.

Gordon was a great Husband, Father, and a friend to many and will be missed by all.
