Gary Orville Winters

Gary Orville Winters passed away April 27, 2021, at his home surrounded by family and friends. Gary was born in Caldwell, Idaho on April 19, 1947. He was the second child born to Orville and Audrey Winters.

While in junior high he met his best friends for life, Jerry Fivecoat, George Bye, Gene Powell and many others.

At the age of 15, he met Carolyn Keltner and very quickly realized it was meant to be forever. On December 15, 1966, they married and set out on their journey of life.

In 1966, Gary began serving our country in the United States Air Force. Gary and Carolyn were blessed with two children, Mark (1969) and Teresa (1972). In 1972, Gary completed his commitment with the military and moved on to many other careers; painting, construction, auto body work, and house moving. When he decided on truck driving, he drove truck for 38 years retiring from Simplot in 2008. Then he became an owner/operator for Goff Trucking. He continued driving until this year.

Gary’s grandchildren, Nickolas Winters and Sarah Ann Hernandez were his pride and joy. Gary loved fishing, camping and riding motorcycles. He looked forward to going to Sturgis, South Dakota for the annual motorcycle rally. He enjoyed forming a business, Liberty Trikes.

Gary was always lending a helping hand and was a good friend to all he came across. Gary gave the best advice and was always dependable. He had a smile that lit up a room and his laugh will always be remembered.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol and his sister, Sharon Pursifull.
Gary is survived by his two children, Teresa Hernandez and Mark A. Winters; two grandchildren, Sarah Ann and Nickolas; his brother, Bob and wife Mary Beth; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A viewing will be held on Tuesday, May 4, 2021 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Dakan Funeral chapel. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Wednesday, May 5, 2021 also at Dakan Funeral Chapel.
