Tribute

Gary passed away very peacefully of natural causes on the evening of December 17, 2021.
He was born to Charles (Chic) Mabe and Pearl (Bowers) Mabe in Boise, Idaho. Followed by his to loving sisters Joanne and Julia.
He graduated from Nampa High School in 1959 and still to this day he has some very good friends. They got together for lunch and class reunions often.
Shortly after graduating Gary joined the Navy in 1961-1963. Where he served on the USS Piedmont. This is where Gary started his love anything electrical. Which then led him to a rewarding  job working at JR Simplots. Gary started working for Simplots on October 31st 1963. Shortly after starting he was asked to become the first electrical supervisor.  Gary was very proud of his job and to be working there for so many years. He finally retired after working 42 years with Simplots, a job he enjoyed doing. He still did electrical work around his home and for many family members for many more years.
Gary met his wife Cheryl while working at Simplots. They later married on December 7th 1996. He not only married her, but her girls also. Gary is survived by his wife Cheryl Mabe and her girls Sara (Charlie) Hahn their children Dakota and Adam; Kelli (Phil) Torres their children Kaleb, Sean and Lynzie, Megan Toombs (Monty) their children Sydney, Natalie and Abigale. Also Gary’s own daughter Garianne Mabe from a previous marriage. He has numerous step grandchildren and many brother and sister-in-laws that he thought very highly of.
Gary and Cheryl bought a motor home that they enjoyed traveling to many places. They took it to the Oregon and Washington coasts almost every year. They loved to visit national parks and meeting up with friends in different places. They both really enjoyed traveling in it and being with each other. On a few occasions they even took the grandkids.
Gary enjoyed living in the country in his home that him and Cheryl created. He finally got to enjoy gardening with Cheryl. Where in between he would mow the lawn and fix things. He could fix almost anything and it took him a lot to give up on something that he couldn’t fix. He has parts and pieces to almost anything your look for.
He love watching his grandkids grow. He watched them learn how to walk to ride bikes (that he always had to fix). He watching them drive which he taught some of them starting with the lawnmower, tractor and four wheelers.
Gary loved life and his family. He loved Family dinners, holidays, potlucks, and Barbecues.
And last but not least Gary love Big Green his Dodge pick up and his Kubota tractor.
Gary is preceded in death by his parents, his son Sean Mabe. Also numerous aunts and uncles. A very special aunt Gracie Pfost.
