January 10, 1930 ~ July 1, 2017 (age 87) 87 Years Old
Freda Mae Barnes, 87, currently of South Pittsburg, TN, entered into rest and rejoicing with her Lord on Saturday, July 1, 2017.   Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am, Saturday, July 8th at Dakan Funeral Chapel, Caldwell, Idaho.   Condolences and memories may be shared with the family at www.dakanfuneralchapel.com.

Freda was born on January 10, 1930 to Allen Leo Furnish, Sr. and Edna (Walbey) Furnish in Coffeyville, Kansas.   Freda moved with her family to Caldwell, Idaho in 1944.  She often told her family about riding on the back of her father’s Harley on the way to Idaho.   Freda married Dexter Barnes on March 21, 1950.     Freda and Dexter had three children:  Diana, Gene and Edward.

Freda worked at Clover Club Potato Chip Factory making potato chips.   She told many stories about how good those fresh off the conveyor belt potato chips were!   Freda loved to sew and was an accomplished quilter, providing many beautiful and lovingly made quilts to family and friends, as well as baby quilts and lap quilts for the elderly to the church, nursing homes and hospitals.   Her favorite color was red and she loved red roses.  She loved to travel and had many adventures, including trips to Hawaii, Catalina Island, parasailing in the Bahamas, and Niagara Falls, Canada.   Freda loved her family and they always came first.    She was always there to help in any situation in any way that she could.

A strong Christian, Freda grew up attending services at the Church of God of Prophecy.   She realized a dream to be baptized again at Fields of the Wood in Murphy, NC on June 26, 2015.

Freda is survived by her sister, Jenetta (Furnish) Bancroft of Boise, Idaho; children, Diana (Barnes) Goodman of Boise, Idaho, Gene Barnes and wife Cindy of Sheridan, Wyoming, and Edward Barnes and wife Margot of South Pittsburg, Tennessee; grandchildren, Jennine Gallegos of Boise Idaho, Isaac Gallegos of Nashville, Tennessee, Michael Barnes and wife Lacy of Billings, Montana, Heather Barnes of Sheridan, Wyoming; and 9 great-grandchildren, as well as many cousins nieces and nephews.

Freda was the 2nd of 5 children and is preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Zona and Elizabeth; brother, Allen Leo Furnish, Jr. (“Junior”); husband, Dexter; granddaughters, Brenda Lee Gallegos and Robin Gallegos; and grandson, Rocky Gallegos.
