Franklin Hugh Kyzer

For those of you who knew Frank Kyzer, this serves as announcement that he finally pushed his symbolic wheelchair down the mountain with his bottle of Jack in tow on April 17, 2017.
As a young boy, Frank loved to spend time on his aunt and uncle’s farm where he learned valuable, future job skills by learning how to drive a tractor, chasing the farm animals around and wreaking general havoc wherever he ended up on the property. During these years, Frank also made sure that his sisters, Shirlie Kyzer, Renae Drake, Debbie Asmussen and Ivette Harn were well taken care of.
Frank led an exciting life, full of chaos and fun wherever he went. With his infectious laugh and adventurous attitude, he was the kind of guy that accumulated great experiences and great stories – he was once held at gunpoint by a teenaged Federale in Mexico, rode his bed across the hotel room in the 8.8 magnitude Chilean earthquake of 2010 and dived for abalone in New Zealand.
Frank’s career led to him to exploring agricultural regions all over the world, including Asia, Africa, Australia and South America, where he developed a gut of steel from repeatedly tasting exotic foods and several varieties of hot peppers.
Back home in Idaho, Frank loved being outdoors– so much so that back in high school, he used to skip school dances so he could go hunting and fishing. As an adult, Frank enjoyed spending time fishing, canoeing and camping with family and friends every year at Sage Hen and even jumped out of an airplane or two. He knew that there was nothing quite like the warmth and camaraderie of a campfire with family and friends.
He was a skier, and received various bumps and bruises in impressively acrobatic wipeouts on the ski slopes. Frank played football for the College of Idaho back in the good ol’ days, and in his adult life was a loyal Boise State Football fan, faithfully buying season tickets even when they weren’t in winning seasons.
Frank leaves behind his wife, Julie Herring Kyzer, who was frequently mistaken for his daughter; his son, Josh (Jenna) Kyzer; his daughters, Liz (Cory) Chatterton and Alex (Shane) Adams; his grandchildren, Vera Kyzer, Aidan and Brady Chatterton and Tate and Rylie Adams along with numerous other family members and friends.  
Please join us for a celebration of Frank’s life on Tuesday, April 25 from 4 - 7 PM at College of Idaho’s Simplot South Dining Hall in Caldwell, ID.
