February 24, 1920 ~ October 4, 2019 (age 99) 99 Years Old

Ellene went home to her Lord on October 4, 2019 at 3:30 a.m., after a long struggle with heart failure and asthma, a mere four months and 20 days short of her 100th birthday. She was saved early in life and her faith in Christ remained at the center of her life until her passing. In her final weeks, daily devotions were a highlight.
She is survived by her daughter Carla Warde, her grandson Paul Warde, granddaughter-in-law Anya Warde, and her great grandchildren, Gabriel, Ethan, and Lilly Warde, all of Caldwell, Idaho. She is also survived by her step-daughter Selia Karsten of Toranto, Canada, step daughter Carmen Karston of Texas, granddaughters Christy DiMaggio of Stockton, California and Anne Warde of Culver City, California. She is also survived by countless additional friends and loved ones.
She was born and raised in Hot Springs, Arkansas, graduating from high school there. During the war, she worked on a nearly all female crew at the Chevron oil refinery in Richmond California. After the war, she returned to Hot Springs where she worked as a switchboard operator at the Majestic Hotel. It was there that she met and married her husband Emmett Karston, who managed the Majestic.
With brief breaks to take care of other responsibilities, she worked until she was 77 years old. Some of the many jobs she worked included retail sales, special needs teacher’s aide and Delta Dental for over 20 Years in data processing.
Sometime after the death of her husband Emmett, she reconnected with a and married a high school friend, Russell Holcomb. She then moved to Hot Springs Arkansas to live with her new husband. She was very active in Community Park Church in Bryant Arkansas. In her life She cared for two husbands in their final days. Later she moved back to California to be near her family and then to Caldwell where she lived with her daughter Carla until her passing.
Her live was a life well lived by Grace.
