OBITUARY
Edward Eugene Townsend was born January 31, 1936 on a farm at Remington IN. After birth the doctor pronounced him dead. His grandmother said “no he isn’t” and wrapped him in a blanket, opened the oven of the corncob fired kitchen stove and put him on the door near the oven. “Grandma knows best.” His mother died as a result of the birth.

He attended grade school in Lafayette IN & Rensselaer IN and high school in Rensselaer IN and Marion IN. He graduated from Rensselaer High School in 1954. He then attended Lafayette Business College in Lafayette IN and after graduation he worked for Leahman Machine Works in Lafayette. In 1957 he moved to Phoenix AZ and joined the Arizona Air National Guard April 21, 1958 as an inventory Management Specialist. He was activated for the Berlin Wall Crisis and sent to Etain Air Force Base at Etain, France where he managed the inventory at the ammunition dump on base. He was discharged from the Arizona Air National guard on August 15, 1962 with the rank of Staff Sergeant. After several months working for Safeway he was employed at Clover Club Foods as their office manager in their Phoenix AZ, El Paso, TX, Greeley CO, Colorado Springs Co and Boise ID offices. He Started his own business, Quality Services and did accounting work for several medical and dental offices in Boise and Caldwell ID.

Ed passed away July 3, 2022. Per Ed’s request there will be no services.

Siblings that have passed before him are Robert Sigo and Genelyn Yeoman. Still Surving are Freda Brock, Lafayette IN, Mary Kenworthy and Rita Keller of Indianapolis IN and Leonard Sigo Remington IN.

He is survived by two sons, Jeffery(Vieno) Townsend, Helena MT, Gary Townsend, Portland OR and a daughter, Lynn Townsend, Eagle ID. Also 6 grandchildren, Katie(Andrew) Buchanan, Ocean Park, WA, Shaina(Nick) Steinmetz, Boise ID, Stephanie(Wyatt) Lechner, Harlowtown, MT, Jennifer(Derrek) Reintjes, Helena, MT, Wesley Aaron Townsend, Coeur d’Alene ID, Leah Townsend Portland OR. Two Great-Granddaughters, Rylee and Dani Buchanan, Ocean Park WA, and Great-Grandson, Samson Steinmetz, Boise ID.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to American Heart Association or charity of donor’s choice.
