We are sad to announce the passing of Douglas Marcellus Cheney of Greenleaf, Idaho. He died at the age of 65 on June 25, 2022. Doug passed away surrounded by his loved ones after a battle with leukemia.
Doug was born on March 6, 1957, to Dorothy Mayes Cheney and Theron Allen Cheney, Sr. in Rexburg, Idaho. He was the youngest of nine children. He attended school in Archer Sunnydell and went on to high school in Rexburg. Doug soon met Brenda Lockhart, the love of his life, and married her. They were married for 45 years and raised three beautiful children, Michael, Taber, and Kimber. During their early years, he attended the College of Southern Idaho, earning his degree in body and fender repair. From there he went on to work for Idaho Power for 43 years using his degree in autobody. He performed many extra duties while with Idaho Power, retiring as a mechanic servicing their vehicles in the Treasure Valley.
He is survived by his loving wife, Brenda, son Taber (Kiaya), daughter Kimber, grandson Zane, and adopted grandchildren Jaden Stich and Jordi Bromell. He is also survived by his faithful bull dogs that he cared for like family. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
He was preceded in death by both parents, his three brothers, and his son Michael. A graveside service will be held in his honor at 11:00 a.m. on July 15, 2022, at Twin Falls Cemetery, Twin Falls, Idaho.
