Dorothy E. Hogg

A remarkable woman, Dorothy Evelyn Wilson Hogg, passed away peacefully on October 29, 2018.

She was born on March 22, 1921 in the family home in Cheyenne, Wyoming to Arthur John and Ruth Alberta McIlquham Wilson. She married Roland Steele Hogg on August 21, 1946 in that same home in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS temple. Because of Roland’s expertise as a soil scientist, their life together took them from ranching and farming in Wyoming to international places such as Afghanistan. While in Afghanistan Dorothy, an excellent seamstress was instrumental in assisting the local women in an economic sewing project. That project included making dolls representative of the dress typical of the various groups in the region.

Dorothy and Roland are the parents of six children, Jody (Jon) Werner, Judi Hogg, Lainie (Bill) Weaver, John (Julie) Hogg, Meredyth (Martin) Grover, and Merrill (Lisa) Hogg. Their posterity also includes 31 grandchildren and 42 great-grandchildren. Roland preceded her in death on May 30, 1995.

Dorothy is survived by one sister, Barbara Dey, of Cheyenne, Wyoming. She is an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served as a secretary in the auxiliaries. She and her husband served a full time mission in the Canada Calgary mission, were family history workers, and also served as temple workers in the Boise, Idaho LDS temple. Dorothy was a devoted wife and mother and her posterity is very blessed for it. We thank all family members that have taken Dorothy into their homes and cared for her. Have joyous reunions on the other side.

Funeral services are under the direction of Dakan Funeral Chapel. The funeral services will be held November 2, 2018; at the Caldwell East Stake center on 11792 Linden Road at 4 p.m. Burial will be at the Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Caldwell on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at 9 a.m.
