Donald Lee Poor
December 21,2020 - March 22,1940
Nampa, Idaho-Donald Lee Poor passed away on December 21, 2020 at his home in Nampa, Idaho. He was borned on March 22, 1940 in Maloy, Iowa. Son of Harry Benjamin and Loleta Poor. He had 2 brothers and 3 sisters.
He joined the Marine Corp in 1957, at the age of 17. He really had it rough, he was stationed in Hawaii for 3 years and then Camp Pendleton.
He moved to Idaho in 1972 where he bought a farm in Roswell, Idaho. He started his own construction business, "Poor Construction".
He met his wife Cathy of 34 years in Parma. She was working at First Securtiy Bank at the time, where he banked. He asked her to lunch and that is how it all started. They have had a great life together. They were married in August of 1986 in a hot air balloon in Roswell, ID.
He loved to snowmobile with Ralph, Lolly and John Wong and of course the rest of the snowmobile gang. He enjoyed hunting and fishing .
Donald and Cathy bought a mobile home park in Bend Oregon in 1987. He retired and moved to Bend, OR in 1992 to manage the mobile home park.
They bought their first motor home in 1994, and started traveling and never stopped. He loved traveling in the motor home, he met so many great people. He loved going to the Nascar races where he met the greatest people , Donald never knew a stranger he talked and helped everyone.
He loved traveling all across the USA with his brothers David and Fred and their wives. Can't forget the Califonia traveling buddies, we golfed some beautiful golf courses with them across the USA, what a great time we all had.
Donald and Cathy bought a home in Nampa, ID in 2010, it was time to settle down and enjoy their great grandchildren.
Donald is survived by his wife Cathy Poor, daughters: Kimberley Poor, Karen Poor and Margie Preston and 1 step daughter Tammy Fisher who he thinks of as his own. He has 6 grandchildren, Daniel Pierce, Megan Lyle, Addysen Stanley, Brady Fisher, Randi Seward and Colt Seward. He has 4 great grandchildren, Tatum, Oliver, Brooke and RenaeLynn.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents Harry Benjamin and Loleta Poor, sister Margie Torrence, brother Fred Poor, and sister Marilyn Schrader.
A special thanks to all of our family and friends that helped during this difficult time.
A special thanks to St Luke's Hospice who provided wonderful comfort and care to the family.
A celebration of life will be held in the spring of 2021
