Donald Ray Luna

Donald R. Luna, 73, of Council, ID., went to heaven peacefully on Monday, December 24, 2018, at the Parma Living Center. He was known as “Little Don” to friends and “Uncle Donnie” by his nieces and nephews. Don, the fourth son of Basil and Bertha Luna, was born June 14, 1945 in Caldwell, Idaho. He grew up and graduated in Wilder, ID.  
 
Don married Joann Benigar in November of 1968. Two sons were born to the couple—Brian in 1972 and Eric in 1975. The family enjoyed camping, hiking, hunting, fishing, and animals. Don also had a love for gardening and woodworking. Don retired as a purchasing agent from Anderson and Wood Construction and moved to Council, ID. His heart belonged near wildlife, mountains, and Eric-his son and best friend. He enjoyed taking long walks around town. He will be remembered for his sense of humor and adorable smile. 
 
He was preceded in death by his sons Brian and Eric and their mother, his parents Basil and Bertha (Hightower) Luna, brothers Paul, Bill, and Robert Luna. Surviving are his granddaughter Kyia Luna and 2 great granddaughters Paizley and Neveah of McCall, ID, brother Willard (Gretchen) Luna of St. Jacob, IL and numerous nieces & nephews.
 
Funeral service will be held at 10 am, Saturday, January 5, 2018 at the Caldwell Church of Christ and be immediately followed by a time of sharing and fellowship. Graveside service will begin at 3 pm at the Odd Fellows/IOOF Cemetery in Council, ID and will be followed by a meal and time of remembrance at the Council Sr. Citizen’s Center. Although we were not ready to say goodbye, his heart was ready to be united with his boys and family. He will rest in peace and be greatly missed.
