Bonnie Harris passed away on Wednesday, December 1, 2021 of natural causes in Nampa, Idaho. She was born on September 17, 1941 in Wiley Ford, West Virginia, the daughter of Ernest Hammond Ashenfelter and Ethyl Mae Brandt Ashenfelter Ayers.
Bonnie graduated high school in 1959 and began work in the clerical field. She met her soulmate, John “Jack” Harris in Baltimore, Maryland while he was there going to advance electronic school at the Naval Base at Bainbridge. Jack and Bonnie were married on May, 7, 1960 in Baltimore, Maryland. Shortly after their marriage the navy transferred them to Oahu, Hawaii. They lived there for 4 years and welcomed their first child, Christina Marie Harris. Bonnie loved the culture of Hawaii and often loved remembering her time there. From Hawaii, Jack and Bonnie were transferred to Long Beach, California and then transferred to San Diego, California. While in San Diego, Jack and Bonnie welcomed their son, John Kenneth Harris. While living in San Diego, Bonnie sold Avon and Tupperware and enjoyed being a Mom. She planned many outings and gatherings for family when they would come to visit. Once Jack retired from the Navy they moved to Caldwell, Idaho. Bonnie began volunteering at Lincoln Elementary in the library while her children were in school. After a year of volunteering, the new library was opened and Bonnie was the head librarian for 23 years. Bonnie enjoyed camping, sightseeing, entertaining and doing for others. She was a member of thePeacemakers, Women of Faith and Red Hatters. Her greatest joy was her family and she was a very proud mom.
Bonnie is preceded in death by her mother, father, 11 siblings, brother-in-law-Charles "Chuck" Harris. She is survived by husband Jack Harris, daughter Christina Harris, son John (Marlana) Harris both of Caldwell, Idaho. Sister-in-law Maria Harris, brother and sister-in-law Andy & Cathy Petersen, 3 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
